I highly recommend this family owned restaurant. As a single dad who has raised my own children and cooked home style authentic and Tex-mex meals majority of my life practically always in the kitchen with my mother n abuelita . This small but cozy family owned restaurant is as close to the comfort foods I grew up on and the customer service is beyond five stars .The food presentation was as good as it tasted that I forgot to take pictures of it lol .

Great place. Found it accidentally rolling through town. Usually go to another spot that has been closed the last couple of times. Looks like I found my new go-to spot.

Stopped for a lunch break as we traveled through town. And a most excellent lunch break it was! I had taco salad in tortilla bowl (it had all the usual ingredients plus rice) & my husband had a beef fajita taco. The green sauce (tomatillo?) was sooooo delicious! The ladies who served us were the epitome of real Texas hospitality.

Very good food and run by a family of very friendly people. This is the quintessential “small town” restaurant that provides great food with a great atmosphere.

On the drive from Houston to Austin, we didn’t pre game our breakfast. Imagine how happy we were when these home made flour tortillas were set down before us with eggs scrambled up with perfect chorizo and another with eggs Mexicana. The roasted tomatillo salsa tasted very home made, the refried beans were smoky and the hash browns had bits that were crispy mixed with cooked potato. If it’s early enough, you might luck out and get a booth on the right when you walk in. The service was friendly and great.

We went to Ayala's Cafe for lunch simply because of their google rating. We didn't know any of the restaurants in Hempstead, so we took a chance. We were very pleased. The service was fast and friendly, their prices were quite reasonable and the food was delicious! Their green sauce was some of the best I've ever had. I wish I had thought to get a large order of it to go.

Went back this last week for the first time in probably over 5 years and let me say how much it has changed in a good way. It has evolved and it is like a fuse still of a small hole in the wall restaurant with finer Mexican food dining. They have changed from buffet style to ordering of menu and have started using fresher and better ingredients. Presentation of the plates is also nice. Makes you feel like you are eating in a nice Mexican restaurant in a bigger city where presentation of the food matters. And the inside had also been remodeled as well and is more open. Also has a new coffee bar inside that I didn't get to try in this visit but will next time we come back. Staff is very attentive and nice. Would definitely recommend folks to check it out. If they haven't before or if they have like me a long time ago. Looking forward to going back soon.

Amazing service, everybody hustles, food was fast, food was out in less than 10 min. Coffee was stout. Will be our new goto place. Homemade tortillas were delicious.
